books from the shrine

While visiting VA, I was privileged enough to spend time with friends in DC. And, on Wednesday, I went to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Yes, by myself, I toured.

The day was gorgeous - sunny and warm!

And, as we all know, I am a Dominican at heart - I study to Love and Love to study!

The Shrine has a fantastic bookstore - all material is TRULY Catholic, so double plus!

Here are the books I picked up: (all links are for Amazon.com if you can't get out there locally)

To Save A Thousand Souls: A Guide for Discerning a Vocation to Diocesan Priesthood - Fr. Brett A Brannen

The Restless Flame: A Novel about Saint Augustine - Louis de Wohl

Five Loaves and Two Fish - Francis Xavier Nguyen Van Thuan

Hungry Souls: Supernatural Visits, Messages, and Warnings from Purgatory - Gerard JM Van Den Aardweg

The King, Crucified and Risen: Meditations on the Passion and Glory of Christ - Benedict Groeschel, CFR

His will

the trip to VA was such a blessing...there are plenty of words to describe my time spent there...but, alas, I am to ponder them.

All I will leave you with is a picture: (photo deleted)
happy times are ahead...THANKS for the prayers...

God is sooooooooooooo good and sooooooooooooo abundant in His blessings. I ask for nothing but to do His will in my life.

Confirmation is later on today!

I have 47 Confirmandi receiving the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in 19 hours. Please pray for Grace and Courage especially for them. That they would stand up and be counted and active as a Soldier for Christ! God has equipped them, may they know they are indeed ready for battle!

What is a road for?

from the holy man Father Bede Jarrett:

Cannot you be grateful for the road though it be rough and uncertain?  It does all a road was ever meant to do.  It takes you home.

Its March 2009.  Wow!  This year is flying by.  Really. and truly.
So much is happening right now.  Confirmation, DCP for NET, Life Nights, Spring Retreat.  I'm taking the morning off 2mrw so that I can have some semblance of a day off.  As, the craziness bursts 2mrw afternoon and I won't have another day off til March 22nd.   And, then its 5 days of bliss.  My DC/VA road trip with Cassie.  Soooooooooooo excited!  and nervous too....but the JOY of course outweighs that!!
