Novena to be Debt Free - part 5

O glorious St. Ann, you are filled with compassion for those who invoke you and with love for those who suffer! Heavily burdened with the weight of my troubles, I cast myself at your feet and humbly beg of you to take the present intention which I recommend to you in your special care.
Please recommend it to your daughter, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and place it before the throne of Jesus, so that He may bring it to a happy issue. Continue to intercede for me until my request
is granted. But, above all, obtain for me the grace one day to see my God face to face, and with you and Mary and all the saints to praise and bless Him for all eternity. Amen.

Please join me in prayer to pay down my debt as soon as possible. And for others like me.

Praying for Victory

Have you ever felt like the readings and the homily were written and spoken just for you?  I feel that way right now.

The widow's mite and fruit bearing trees have been in my sight these last two weeks.  Of how I have to give out of my need and I shall receive a 100-fold.

I feel the strongest tug and pull from God in the direction of religious life.  I want for nothing more.  He is all I need and want.  My desire to be with Him is stronger than any desire for youth ministry.  When people ask me when I'm going, I say May 2012 b/c that's according "my" budget.  After saying this, I feel like I am disappointing Him.  He is beckoning me, and I am having to say "hold on, I'm coming but in a minute, in a month, in half a year.  I'm coming, just not right now."

I've felt for months now, that God was asking me to do more than what I've already done.  To do the legwork, and He would do the rest.

For mission trips, our greatest fruit-bearing fundraiser is where we write letters to our family and friends describing what we're doing for the summer and the people we will be serving.  And, we ask them to donate financially if they can and to pray for us.

Did you know that St Therese of Lisieux is the patroness of missions.  She died at 24 and never ever ventured outside of the monastery.  She has this patronage because of her prayer, of her intercession for others.  Prayer supports missionaries.

We ask our teen missionaries to write at least 50 letters, and we tell them they need at least 25 prayer partners.  Because frankly, you cannot give what do not have.   To be on mission, you have to have people supporting you, spiritually and financially.

I ask my teens to do this every year.  And, this year especially, I noticed it was hard for them to ask people for money - knowing we're in a recession and in a building campaign.  But, I reminded them we can't go without spiritual and financial support.  And, I, personally, didn't see what the big deal was - why couldn't they just suck it up and do it?

And, then today in spiritual direction, a light bulb went off.  I was asking them to do something that I couldn't even do for myself.  I was relying on myself.  I wasn't doing the legwork God was asking of me.  I was denying His request of me.

And so I ask.

Can you assist me in paying down my debt fast?  Can you help me go to where God is calling, to Summit.  And, above all be my support, be my prayer partners?  Could you spare $10 or $20? No donation is too large or too small.  You shall be Aaron and Hur holding up Moses' arms as he prayed for a victory in battle against the Amaleks (Exodus 17:9-13).  You shall be my support as I stand on the mountain praying for victory in the battle for souls.

If you'd like to mail your donation and/or prayer requests, you can send them to:

Above all, know that I am praying for you each and every day and your prayers are heard!

LT Convention 2011

Last year, I posted all of the quotes from 2010 Life Teen Training Convention, and I just returned yesterday from 2011 LTTC.  600 youth ministers, CORE, and priests gathered for 4 days to learn, grow, and be fed.  We left on a mission - to serve our young Church - to lead teens into sacramental lives with Christ.

Life Teen is a movement of the Holy Spirit.

Are we doing or being?

What is your prayer life like?

Prayer is the only thing that keeps us going.

Sincere Love is without wax.

Participate, don't anticipate.

You don't plan conversion; you bump into God.

Do you put a price on the value of a person?  of a retreat?

All of our sufferings are kisses from Christ and lead us back to Him.  Attach them to the cross.

Acts 14:22

The depth of my faith is in direct proportion to the depth of my ministry.

What does God want from me?

God doesn't expect more than I have; He just wants me, my surrender.

Can I allow the Holy Spirit to work in me?

Get out of the way and let the Holy Spirit work.

Grow in honesty and vulnerability.

Isaiah 30:21

Is Twilight an escape from the real LOVE found in God?

Fun gets teens there; but it doesn't keep them there.

Historical Christianity = Catholicism

It's not the impact I am making, but the impact the Church is making.

Relationship. Relationship. Relationship.

God's got His thumb on him/her.

Piercing the Culture of Death with a Joyful Evangelization

Become store owners rather than just putting in the hours.

Remember their cross is twice as heavy as yours is.

Mother Teresa is so cute, I want to wear her as a necklace.

Don't think I am a sinner, know I am a sinner.

Daily Mass: food of the saints.

When your life is falling apart, who do you turn to?

Prayer is the support of missionaries.

Where is the measure of your success?  In the world or in heaven?

You cannot do anything without a deep prayer life.

Txt LT to 20222 and $10 will be donated to Life Teen.  Give back to those who formed you.

We are on God's mission, not our own mission.

I'm in

$1072 paid off, $10928 to go.  Thanks to all those supporting me with prayers and/or financial help.

Novena to be Debt Free - part 3

God Our Father, I praise You for Louie and Zélie Martin, a truly faithful husband and wife, who lived their Christian life in an exemplary way through their duties in life and practice of Gospel teaching. In bringing up a large family, in spite of trials, bereavements and suffering, they showed immense trust in You and obedience to Your will.

Lord deign to manifest Your will in their regard and grant me the favours I implore while praying that the father and mother of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus be presented as models of family life today. Amen.

Please join me in prayer to pay down my debt as soon as possible. And for others like me.

God is good! Isn't He!

God is so good!  Isn't He!

I don't think its any coincidence that our archdiocese placed Ascension on Sunday, June 5th.  Those readings were absolutely grand for the announcement I made to our teens - that I'm following my Beloved Sweet Christ back to the monastery.

For as Fr Paul said in his homily, "with every beginning there is an ending."  How true that is.

As I get ever closer to the goal of being free from debt, I rejoice a little bit more.  And, God keeps surprising me.  Yay!

Surrendering self for His glory!
Thank you for your prayers.

Apple Pudding Pie Muffins recipe

<<edited 12-23-11 for electric and gas ovens>>

Apple Pudding Pie Muffins - makes about 30
3-4 apples, cored and shredded, skin on
2 cups flour
1/2 cup old fashioned oatmeal
1/2 t salt
1 T baking powder
1 1/2 t cinnamon
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1 stick butter, softened
2 eggs
1 cup milk or sour cream
1 t vanilla

ATL to EWR

I had my physical - blood work and they checked my heart (EKG) today.  I'll find out test results in about 3 weeks.

After, I had lunch with my mom.  I love her, she's just so cute.
She asked me how much airfare was from ATL to EWR.  I told her I was driving; its cheaper.  She said she'd like to pay for my gas.  I had actually been freaking out a little bit about that.  Wondering how I could cut my budget a little bit more to pay for my visit in August.  Oh, how God provides.

I also leave for AZ for a youth minister's conference in 11 days, and am beyond thrilled.  This year, the office is allowing me to take one other person.  I hope that it grows, and in 3 years, they take the entire CORE team!

I am so relieved to tell my teens this weekend;  I really don't think I can hold it in any longer.  Please pray for that conversation.  I have a retreat planning meeting with our peer ministers on Sunday, and that's when I plan on telling them.  After the meeting.  And,  I have a plan for what to say to just get it out there using facebook.

I surrendered all unto God about a year ago, asking Him to wreck my life, and make me completely His.  Which He did.  And, in tremendous ways.  Burning of the chaff.  And, I am grateful.  B/c had it not been, I don't think I would be where I am today.  He is LOVE.  I am completely dependent upon Him.

He Is my ALL in ALL, and ever shall be.  I love Him, and I won't refuse Him any longer.

Thank You for your prayers.  Please share my blog with others.

And, this is what I've been baking lately - Apple Pie muffins.

I found shredding the apples works better than diced apples.
