One prayer and one dollar at a time

In order to enter religious life, I have to be debt free.  For me, that means paying off student loans and that's why I will be applying for a St Joseph grant from the Mater Ecclesiae foundation.  I also have personal debt to pay off.  I live on my own, and have adopted a very strict budget.  I currently am able to pay about $600 a month on my personal debt.

I would obviously prefer to enter around the time my apartment lease has ended.  However, unless, I had a miracle occur, that is not going to happen.  I have about $12,000 in personal debt.  I could really kick myself sometimes for putting groceries, a new mattress, eye glasses, new brakes and tires, etc on a credit card. But what is done is done.  So, now I just leave it up to God.  Plan a good budget.  Pray for a Catholic roommate (if I had one, that would be at least another $200 towards debt) or a family with a basement room I can rent out for less than what I am paying now.

When I am near to reaching my goal I will be selling off all that I own to pay off the rest.  I know my vehicle is worth more than what is owed on it, so that money will be going towards my debt as well.

I just ask for prayers for me, and if you are able to donate (thanks Julie), please do so.  Your name will go on my daily prayer list, and your address goes on my Christmas card list.  If you'd like to donate but not through paypal, go to my profile and email me.  I will send you my mailing address.

There are many different scenarios that could take place.   I know that through God all things are possible and He is with me always!  I go one day at a time.  And, until I am in religious life, I will see my sisters in the Eucharist!  I have hope.

Good luck,Deepa. I will be praying for you, but it seems as if it will take you well over a year or more to get rid of your credit card debt, unless you find a very generous benefactor, or move back to your family home and apply all of your income to your debt. Best wishes to you, and I'm sorry I am unable to contribute to your cause.

It would hopefully be many different benefactors...not just one. ;)

Thanks for your concern. And, it will not take more than a year. I have all of my possessions to sell as well.

Please pray for me and others like me.
